Descriptions of the construction progress of my new Florida model railroad featuring the line from Lakeland to Punta Gorda. Originally a journal of RV trips throughout the United States and Canada with Patti and Bob. Also photo documentation of the progress on my Maryland model railroad, the Allegheny and Shenandoah, a mythical class one line connecting Strasburg VA. with Elkins WV.

Kennebunk River
The Kennebunk River is a narrow harbor with an 8' to 12' tide. We took a scenic boat tour at dead low tide. Very revealing! We went past Walker Point where the Texas flag was also in evidence and got a chance to see Goat Island Light from the ocean. At low tide the seals tend to sun themselves on the many many many rocks.
Cape Porpoise
Cape Porpoise is a suburb of Kennebunkport and has a pier where the watermen sell their catch. It also has three fine restaurants including one that specializes in fresh caught lobsters. The lighthouse is the Goat Island Light and it sits amid a string of islets that guard the entrance to the harbor

Scarlet on Charlottetown harbor in the "PEI"
Lookin' gooood after 25000 miles and 4 years. She's resting comfortably by the water in a beautiful KOA RV park nearby the province's capitol city.
Charlottetown Harbor
We had lobster at the Lobster Wharf Restaurant on Charlottetown Harbor. This beautiful view of the harbor sparkled in front of our table.

End of the line - Prince Edward Island
The final province of Canada for this trip. I've updated our map. The final map from the old rig (Bessy) is shown for comparison. Most of the blank spaces will be filled when we return from the West in 2014.

Halifax Harbor
We didn't get down to the tourist center of Halifax, instead we went to the rail yards and the industrial port facilities. The bridge to Dartmouth sits above the Canadian Coast Guard station and is located next to one of two large container facilities in the harbor.
Peggy's Cove Nova Scotia
The quintessential coastline village and the site of the Swissair crash where all lost their lives. We visited on a dreary, foggy day but the magic of digital enhancement saved the photos. Huge rocks and an almost hidden cove make the town very endearing.

Champlain
At the water side the classic river view of the old town is dominated by the monument of Champlain and the Chateau Frontenac. The old fortifications appear tres formidable!
Vieux Quebec
Old Quebec City is surrounded by a stone fortification and is linked to the old 1600's era fort that overlooks the St Laurence Seaway. In colonial times a major battle was fought here on the Plains of Abraham adjacent to the fort. The British were victorious. The French locals still refer to it as the "conquest". Old town is abussle with shops of all kinds. Our cafe had a bilingual folk singer (to go with the bilingual menu).

Old grist mill in Coteau Du Lac
This old mill, now a conference center, is home to several avian fishers who just stand in the rapids waiting for dinner to be served. In the USA the restaurant would probably be in the mill not in the water.
Coteau Du Lac
A British supply point for the forts on the Great Lakes, this warehouse and blockhouse is located on a short lock designed to get the barges past the rapids. The barges continued on to Lake Ontario where the supplies were off loaded to larger ships for the journey across the big water.
