Descriptions of the construction progress of my new Florida model railroad featuring the line from Lakeland to Punta Gorda. Originally a journal of RV trips throughout the United States and Canada with Patti and Bob. Also photo documentation of the progress on my Maryland model railroad, the Allegheny and Shenandoah, a mythical class one line connecting Strasburg VA. with Elkins WV.

Soling Racing in Punta Gorda Florida
What a hoot! Had a great day racing with the folks in the Sun Coast Model Boat Sailing Club in Punta Gorda Florida. This was a scoring race that I did rather well in (unlike some others that we won't dwell on here).
The racing consists of six races per day and at the end of the day they award ribbons to the top three boats in each group. I actually one one race which proves the old maxim that occasionally the blind squirrel does actually fine the acorn:) So I wound up third for the day. Very nice, I was pleased.

Annapolis
The Bay was stormy so one of the tall ships that participated in the 200th anniversary of the writing of the Star Spangled Banner in Baltimore stayed for a few days and we were lucky enough to catch it on Patti's and my 20th anniversary trip up there.

Thunder Bay
Thunder Bay is a significant grain loading port as these shots document. There is a small waterfall and rapid just as the river dunps into the lake that makes for an idyllic spot.
