Old Quebec City is surrounded by a stone fortification and is linked to the old 1600's era fort that overlooks the St Laurence Seaway. In colonial times a major battle was fought here on the Plains of Abraham adjacent to the fort. The British were victorious. The French locals still refer to it as the "conquest". Old town is abussle with shops of all kinds. Our cafe had a bilingual folk singer (to go with the bilingual menu).
