Hearst Castle

The Castle is a wonderful estate complete with an airstrip long enough for a DC3. The kitchen is huge so is the wine cellar. In the Prohibition era the alcohol was stored in safe like rooms to keep them away from the T men. The guest library was stocked with 4600 new books and had a special sound dampening ceiling. Hearst has his own hydro electric plant and had more bathrooms than bedrooms all equipped with showers, flush toilets and sinks at a time when all of the locals were still using outhouses and kerosene lamps..
